Tax season,
on autopilot.
Forward your bank statements once. We do the rest of the year. You tap an approval link three times a year. SARS gets your return. That's it.
How it works
Set up once. Three taps a year.
01
Forward statements once
On signup we generate a unique forwarding address. Set up a one-time filter in Gmail or Outlook so each bank's monthly statement email lands there automatically. We support all 8 SA banks — FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Absa, Capitec, Investec, TymeBank, Discovery.
02
We capture, parse, categorise — every month
Each forwarded statement triggers our worker. The PDF is parsed, transactions are categorised against a SARS-aligned chart of accounts, and anything we're not sure about gets flagged for one-tap confirmation. The audit log records every action.
03
Three notifications a year
P1 (August), ITR12 (October), P2 (February). When a return is ready, we email you a single-use review link. Tap it to see the full breakdown — line items, tax calculation, twelve pre-submission checks.
04
One tap to file
Tap Approve & file with SARS on the review page. We submit through our practitioner's eFiling channel and email you back the SARS acknowledgement number — usually within minutes. Your tap is recorded in the audit log as your legal taxpayer affirmation.
What makes Auto different
Honest automation, not magic.
Other auto-everything fintechs paper over how they do it. Here's what we actually do — and what we deliberately don't.
No bank logins, no scrapers
We never ask for your bank password or screen-scrape your accounts. The only data we receive is what your bank emails you and you forward to us. Most fintechs that promise auto-capture are doing one of those two things; we're not.
We never auto-submit
Even on Auto, you tap. Approval is a legal affirmation under section 102 of the Tax Administration Act — it has to be a deliberate human action. The dashboard has the full breakdown if you want to scrutinise before you tap.
All your data stays in South Africa
Postgres on Fly.io Johannesburg, Cloudflare R2 with the JNB region. Forwarded PDFs are deleted within 24 hours of parsing. Brevo (our email infrastructure) is the only sub-processor that briefly handles your inbound email; nothing leaves SA otherwise.
Bank-statement format changes don't break you
If a bank tweaks their PDF layout, our parser flags the failure rather than silently mis-categorising. You get an email pointing to a manual upload as a fallback. The pipeline degrades gracefully; it doesn't fail silently.
Who Auto is for
You spend any time on tax. Any.
Auto pays for itself the first February you don't have to sit at your desk for a Saturday with a bank statement on one monitor and SARS eFiling on the other.
- Provisional taxpayers tired of digging through 12 months of statements every February
- Sole proprietors with one or two business accounts and a separate personal account
- One-person Pty Ltd directors who file ITR12 + ITR14 + IRP6 every cycle
- Anyone who's missed a SARS deadline once and wants the system to remind them
What we promise
Four commitments, including on Auto.
Read-only bank access
We have read-only access to your bank data. We cannot move your money.
Your SARS password stays yours
Your SARS password is never shared with us.
24-hour deletion
Your statements are deleted within 24 hours of processing.
Data resident in South Africa
All your data stays in South Africa.
